36CX+GF White City, Mt Olive Township, IL

SW corner w/ Old Rte 66; just east of I-55 (Exit 44)

Originally placed 1953, opened 1954. The diner still sits on the original 1940-77 alignment of famed Route 66. Has been owned by the same family all along, the Oltmans, though leased out for most of that time. Two horseshoe counters represent the original diner space, which was expanded in the 1960s with more seating and kitchen space. Closed suddenly 5 April 2018. Reopened July 2018. Closed again Jan. 2019. No further information.

Mike Engle reports that this is a double-wide Valentine with horseshoe counter and large attachment.
