Currently the only diner of its kind in service, and one of only two known in serviceable condition. Never common, the stunning Sterling Streamliner was made for less than three years, and very few remain, in any condition.
Originally at 13 Dexter Street, up against a building that’s still there (and where you can still see the diner-shaped outline on the wall). Closed in the 1970s and remained vacant till 1986, when it was moved to its current location and restored. First diner to be placed on the National Register, it’s been a Greater Providence institution for years, and in 2016 won national recognition for its French toast. Locals will tell you, though, that their real speciality is omelettes. There can be a line and wait for seating at busy times, but usually not for the counter. A dining room and bar was added for special events.
In July 2025, it was announced that the diner is FOR SALE. Contact Brian LaFauci at Won Strategy (401-533-3991).
