SE corner w/ GE Patterson Ave.
Opened over a century ago by Speros Zepatos, who came over from Cephalonia., Greece, this is the oldest restaurant in Memphis. Originally a small, simple, one-story wood building, where cooking was done on pot-belly stoves, Zepatos replaced it with the current larger, Greek Revival-style structure in 1925, with retail tenants, calling it the Arcade. In 1954-55, Speros’s son Harry remodelled the restaurant in the then-hip style. It has changed little since then, however, passing to third-generation owners Harry and Karan a decade ago.
Many films have been shot in and around the restaurant, and many famous people have eaten here, including Elvis.
