Originally Quick Cafe, built by George Adams alongside his Adams Hotel, originally in a subdued Art Deco style. The hotel burned in 1948 (as Teddy’s Hotel), by which time the eatery was known as Walt’s Restaurant. Sometime after the fire, it was purchased by Pauline “Polly” and Hubert “Hubie” Stebbins, who in the 1960s changed the name to Polka Dot (after a restaurant of the same name run by Polly’s sister in Massachusetts). Sold 1982 to Alvah “Stub” Aldrich, who in 1983 sold it to Mary and Buddy Shatney.
