Iconic local coffee shop shaped like a 25-foot-tall coffee pot. Originally Coffee Pot Restaurant, it was expanded in 1940 by a two-storey rear addition with a lower banquet hall and upstairs apartments. In 1996, the upstairs burned, and is now gone. It was renamed Java Jive in 1955 by new owners Bob & Lylabell Radonich, who added a pool room and converted the restaurant to a Polynesian-themed music club, where the Ventures got their start as a house band. Later operated as a karoke bar and go-go club. Appeared in films I Love You to Death (1990) and Say Anything (1989). Listed on the NRHP in April 2014.

Mostly a dive bar and club now, but they have a limited menu that has gotten good comments. It’s unclear if you can get coffee there.
